Chick just hatched

We hatch chicks for local independent farmers, farms in the Pacific region, and for people who are revitalizing the tradition of backyard personal flocks.

A typical hatch may comprise of one or all three varieties:

  • Cornish Rock. A cross between a Cornish cockerel and a White Rock hen. They make great pets and are also raised for food as their growth rate is swift. These are sold as a straight-run (females and males together, these are not sexed).
  • White Leghorn are very popular and dual-purpose birds, used as egg layers and for food. These chickens will lay pearl white eggs starting at five months old. We hatch both pullets (females) and cockerels (males).
  • Browns are a mellow breed making excellent pets and at five months they will start laying brown eggs.

We also schedule hatches of specialty breeds of chickens. These breeds are sometimes known as heritage breeds for the effort to conserve and revive old breeds of poultry. Examples of some of the specialty breeds we've hatched in the past: Buff Orpington, Barred Plymouth Rock, Black Australorp, Auracana, Rhode Island Red, Silver Laced Wyandotte, White Crested Black Polish, Silkies, Cochins and more.
